The Writer's Final Battle

I have entered a stage of writing which may very well be the most exacting: the latter end of the editing process.  It is at this stage that the work ahead is most likely to discourage an inexperienced writer such as myself.  However, in all this I have at least two advantages.  Firstly, I believe in the inherent excitement of the story, and secondly, I have behind me a network of supportive book lovers who will help to make the book ready for the market!

All the elements: the heroes, villains, swords, battles, languages, tea, and all the other things that make Arlinga unique in the realm of constructed worlds, are on my side also.  Whatever the profession, it is the inherent romance that fuels the love for it in the hearts of the people.  Romance, that far-away feeling of stepping into another world, is what I believe will sell these books.

In my daily life I have met people who were tired of the same old fantasy reads, who wanted to tackle something with less magic and more plot.  Not that I believe all fantasy literature is written by hacks, don't get me wrong!  But it seems that the public is ready for a change.  I hope that I can step in and fill that need.

So I'll carry on the painstaking process of re-writing, tightening, bringing loose ends of plot together into an exciting and coherent work.  And after that, there will be one final, very important role that my helpers will play.

They will tell me when to stop.
